A Good Full Plate Tailboard Camera By Underwood With A Ross Symmetrical Lens. Description The camera is constructed from French polished mahogany with lacquered brass fittings and is of typical tailboard camera construction. The back folds down and the back of the camera pulls out.
Brass wheels at the top of the back panel secure it in place on long tracks. The base can be racked out to double the length of the camera. The camera back can be rotated for landscape or portrait The lens The brass bound lens is a Ross Rapid Symmetrical. There is a slot in the top for water house stops (missing).At the front is a roller blind shutter by Thornton Pickard. Condition: Cosmetically the camera is very good with a nice bright finish to the French polished mahogany.
The brass retains much of the original lacquered finish. The bellows are good and still supple.
Mechanically the camera operated very well with no areas of concern. Optically the lens is good with no delamination scratches or marks.
